Expressive arts therapy is anchored in the understanding that all of the arts have an innate ability to support psychological, emotional and physical healing in the lives of individuals and groups. The creative process allows for access to information and experiences that cannot always be found through words. Informed by ancestral arts traditions in the Americas and throughout the African Diaspora, Zena incorporates ritual and her training as a painter, musician, writer, storyteller, theater artist and student of meditation and yoga, into her healing work with trauma, grief, addiction, dreams and life transitions.

As a current graduate student in counseling psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, Zena is en route to becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist (MFT) in the state of California and a nationally registered expressive arts therapist (REAT).
